32 and Nasi Kandar
*Sigh*
That’s my age now.
I turned 32 last week on 8th June, somehow celebrating birthdays are no longer the same as when I was a kid. Back then I would be really excited when my birthday comes. Mainly because I know I will be getting lots of presents from my parents, friends and relatives. But now, didn’t get anything at all.
Okay, maybe I did get something. Only one thing.
This…

The super delicious Sneakers Mini Cheesecakes from my friend Jazrul of 4cakesinacup.com. They have the best cheesecakes in town I tell you. And this particular one is my favourite. But I would love to try out the Oreos Cheesecake too, and the Daim Cheesecake.
That was my best birthday gift so far. Hehehe. At least I had something to cheer me up on my birthday.

Another thing, have any of you tried or had the food in the Original Kayu Nasi Kandar before? Be it in Subang Jaya or the newly opened one in Sunway Damansara. It’s nothing bad la but it was fuckingly expensive that it gave me a shock. See? I don’t usually curse but because I was too shocked, that was the first word I uttered when I saw the bill.
I tapau-ed 2 rice dishes that day, simple ones. Okay, have a look below…

This one is rice with almost nothing but sotong goreng (fried squid) and telur ikan goreng (fried fish eggs). That’s all. No vege and no gravy. Guess how much?
Bloody 15 ringgit!!! I had this in my usual mamak restaurant and it cost me only 6 ringgit tops.
Believe it or not? Boleh masuk Ripley’s la macam ni.
And how big was the telur ikan goreng? As below!

Now…one more dish…

This one with kari kambing (mutton curry) and vege only…with gravy. Now guess how much?
Urgh! RM7 for this one. Which I usually paid at most RM4.50 at my usual mamak restaurant.
Fine, I should have tapau-ed from my usual mamak restaurant. But I was in a rush and I wanted to try out their food too. BIG mistake! Dah la I’m on tight budget. I guess I we can only eat there after we get our salaries. On the plus side, good thing the food was good. Quite delicious. Okay, it doesn’t hurt so bad then.
But I’m sure to take something simpler next time.
On the other hand, if you want to have the best of the best nasi kandar, you should check out the stall in the blue building which is a parking lot building in PJ State area, same row as A&W but on the other end, situated at the beginning of the A&W road, you can’t miss it. The stall is called Nasi Kandar Zainul. And the price is right at about RM5 for a full meal and definitely NOT RM15. Of course, the nasi kandar is simply THE BEST!
